WELCOME AMY!

Amy Favour, ASID

Amy Favour, ASID

Hello Everyone,

Great News! I’ve been looking for a designer who can successfully work with my clients since I moved into the Design Center, and after a thorough search, have found just the right person. Amy Favour is the newest addition to our team here at Greenlee, and we’re looking forward to blending her talents and experience with our great tile and flooring products!

We carry such a wide range of tile and flooring products that part of Amy’s job is to minimize the overwhelm, and help you with material selections and design layout. She can even do computerized layout drawings for you to help visualize your project. She will guide you through the design process and assist you in the creation of a really unique design, or just add a “pop” of color where it’s needed, so you’ll love your finished project for years to come.

GETTING TO KNOW AMY
Amy began her career as a fine artist. After working in decorative painting on the Central Coast of California, she became interested in interior design and decided to return to school. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Mixed Media Art, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design.

With more than twelve years of residential and commercial design experience, Amy has worked throughout the United States. Before coming to Prescott, her work had been primarily in Aspen and Crested Butte, Colorado and was recognized on several published and award winning projects.

Amy is certified by the National Council of Interior Design Qualification and a long-standing professional member of ASID, the American Society of Interior Design. She served on the historic preservation and zoning committee in Crested Butte, CO and has an appreciation for historic preservation, and the history of surroundings.

Amy will tell you she loves her job! Especially working with how color, texture and materials work together to make up a space. She enjoys that there are so many great materials that can be used creatively, to design beautiful and functional interiors.

“Working with clients to bring their visions to life is so rewarding,” says Amy. She relishes taking a clients’ initial concept and developing it into a complete vision that works for his or her lifestyle, budget and aesthetic.
According to Amy, “the juxtaposition of creative and analytical aspects involved in the design process keeps it interesting and challenging. There are few careers that marry the two so well.”

WELCOME HER TO PRESCOTT
Amy recently moved to Prescott with her husband to be near family and have their support, while raising their son. Her family has been in Prescott for generations, and she feels the small town environment is a great place to raise their son. She and her husband love the mild four seasons and are excited about having an active outdoor life in the area.

WELCOME TO MY FIRST BLOG!

People always ask me how and why I got started in this business, so I think this is a great opportunity to introduce myself and share my story…I’m excited about this “blogging thing!”

I grew up in Canon City, Colorado.  Canon City is a small town at the foothills of the Sangre De Cristo mountain range.  The area is amazingly similar to Prescott.  I moved to Prescott in 1993 from Colorado to attend school at Embry-Riddle.  Through the course of living here, I got involved in the tile and stone industry and decided to change my focus in school.  So, I finished my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at University of Phoenix.

I opened for business in 1997 and got involved in custom home work almost immediately.  Many of my clients were looking for something “special” for their houses and they weren’t finding it here in Prescott.  I was sending my clients to Phoenix to various tile and stone companies that had those “special tiles”.  It was amazing how excited customers were when they came back; it seems they always found just what they were looking for.

In 2004 I changed the company name, and became Greenlee Designer Surfaces (GDS).  Now I carry those “special” tiles in my own designer showroom.  There’s no need for anyone to go to Phoenix anymore!

I find it very satisfying to be in an industry that innovates and improves all the time.  When offered the opportunity, a few years ago, to travel to India and learn more about the tile industry I jumped at the chance…what a priceless cultural experience and an amazing opportunity for technical education.

Right at the beginning of my tile work, I was exposed to two “specification bibles” that are used in the tile industry. I’ve always tried to apply the methodologies in those books to my tile business, because they work!  What I like about the standardized philosophy is that it works on a long-term basis. Rather than just doing tile work to get through the two-year warranty that’s required by the registrar of contractors in Arizona, I’m most concerned about the durability and longevity of the tile work we do.  Even during challenging times I’ve always found a way to maintain quality, and bring the unexpected to customers in the area.

This is what distinguishes Greenlee Designer Surfaces from other tile companies, and has become our reputation in the area. What it means to our customers is that you will get the highest quality installations possible, with the longest guarantee – and, you just can’t beat that!

Since relocating GDS to The Design Center in September 2011, I recognized the need for high quality carpet and flooring options for those same clients who are looking for “something special,” and I’m proud to say that I’m carrying brands that live up to the standards I’ve set for myself and my customers over the years. Whether it’s a residential or commercial job I’m doing, I want to be able to see you around town and enjoy the relationship we have, and not let quality issues come between us.

I’m really big on giving back to the community that supports me, so over the years I’ve been a loyal member of The Prescott Chamber of Commerce, Prescott Power Partners Networking, a member of the Ceramic Tile and Stone Association of Arizona and am the current President of the Board of the Yavapai County Contractors Association (YCCA).

That’s enough about me, for now.  I’m looking forward to bringing you valuable information you can really use, when you’re looking to update your carpet, tile and flooring needs. It would be great to hear from you about the kinds of articles that would help you the most…be sure to let me know.

Sincerely,

Matt Greenlee
